NO NEW BIRDS is GOOD BIRDS

14/8/2024

A highlight from this period of 2024 was birding with a Chinese friend, 'Chen', who I met on Kangaroo Island. I have now seen a significant number of birds in South-Eastern Australia and my chances of finding new species on any given trip are getting pretty low. My friend had seen virtually nothing, so taking her out to remote places like Pengilly Scrub was exciting. I am proud to say I managed to get her about 100 new spots ('lifers', if you must) on various trips around rural SA in 2024. She's gone home now.

Pengilly Scrub is a remnant vegetation patch managed by Light Council, and assisted by Trees for Life. Chen was delighted to see a Wedge-Tailed Eagle up-close. It was being harassed by ravens, and landed in a tree for respite. I saw nothing new, but had a great day.
