Chester is one of my favourite location so far, not so much to stay in but to base in and return to in the evenings. I could go on a bit about the history but I'd prefer to say this:
You can walk the whole place in an hour It's got ancient walls you can walk on to see the city from all angles It's got Roman Gardens and an Ampitheatre It's got the best Tudor architecture in the country It's not that expensive It's not actually that full of tourists, surprisingly Also, this, as an aside: Chester and also North Wales are increasingly becoming part of the Liverpool Conurbation. I have been finding it hard to tell the difference between a Cheshire accent, a Liverpool accent and a North Wales accent. The main reason is that half the people I've met in Wales are from Liverpool, working or on holiday. The only real difference I can detect is attitude and volume. The Scouse women, in particular, screech at each other like Ringo Star on helium. The Welsh people sound much quieter and more humble. That's all. Comments are closed.
