The Burren, County Clare

6/8/2025

I've been wanting to see the Burren ever since I saw it in a National Geographic Magazine when I was a teenager. It is a huge area of limestone karst pavement riddled with cracks and ditches (grikes) in which rare plants flourish. It's also covered in archaeological sites. I hardly have words to describe it. It's been a big day. Photos will have to do. It's raining hard outside, I'm going for a final stroll around Glendree to calm down and prepare to go canooing on Lough Derg tomorrow.
